At Ark Valley Vision Care, our mission is to help you enjoy clear, comfortable vision throughout every stage of life. If you’ve previously had cataract surgery and are now noticing your vision becoming hazy or cloudy again, a YAG Laser Capsulotomy might be the solution you’ve been looking for.
After cataract surgery, it’s common for the posterior lens capsule (the thin membrane that holds your artificial lens in place) to become slightly cloudy over time. This can blur your sight — almost like a film returning after the cataract has been removed.
A YAG laser uses a highly precise light beam to gently create a tiny opening in that cloudy membrane. This allows light to pass through clearly again and often restores your vision to how it was after your cataract surgery.

This treatment is:
Quick: Typically completed in just minutes.
Outpatient: Done right in our office — no hospital stay required.
Painless: Most patients feel little to nothing during the procedure.
If you’re experiencing:
Blurry or hazy vision months or years after cataract surgery
Difficulty with glare or bright lights
A sensation that your “secondary cataract” is returning
then YAG laser treatment may be appropriate for you. A quick evaluation with one of our eye doctors will determine if it’s the best next step.
Before Treatment: We’ll use eye drops to dilate your pupil and ensure your eye is comfortable and ready.
During Treatment: You’ll sit comfortably while the laser is carefully aimed at the back of your lens capsule. Most patients feel no discomfort.
After Treatment: You’ll be able to return home the same day. Vision often improves within hours, though it can take a few days to fully settle. You may notice a few floaters temporarily — this is common and typically resolves on its own.
Following your YAG laser treatment, we’ll check your eye pressure and overall healing. You may also need updated eyeglass prescriptions as your vision stabilizes.
